a changed morning

Today, for the first time in awhile, I woke up excited. I feel ready for change. And I knew that had to start with my morning routine.

Normally our routine goes a little something like this:

7:00 – alarm goes off
8:20 – actually get up
8:22 - run around the house scrambling to find clean clothes, brush my teeth, slap on a bit of make up, and feed the dog
8:40 – rush to the subway
9:10 – arrive downtown, stop at Tim Horton’s for a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee
9:20 – actually sit down at my desk (note: I’m supposed to be at work at 9)

Today, it went a little more like this:

7:00 – alarm goes off
7:45 – get up
7:47 - throw on gym pants and a t-shirt and pack my work clothes in my backpack
8:00 – eat a delicious breakfast of yogurt, granola and blueberries
8:15 – take the dog on a second walk
8:25 – hop on my bike and cycle to work
8:55 – get to work and change into my work clothes
9:01 – at my desk, ready to go

I don’t know about you, but the second one sounds much nicer to me.

It was awesome to ride my bike to work today. I knew that was going to be one of the changes I wanted to make, but I wasn’t really looking forward to it. Only it turned out to be awesome! The breeze was cool and I felt so fast and free -- a much different experience than the crowded dank subway. Plus I definitely felt it in my butt and thigh muscles, which made me kinda happy also. J

I also really liked eating breakfast before I left the house, which is something I used to do all the time but stopped. No more getting to work feeling cranky and starved. After I got here I was able to take a leisurely trip to Starbucks with my colleagues and enjoy my coffee without feeling like I needed to also inhale 10 pastries.

So all in all, a totally successful and awesome morning.

Starting weight: 225.8 lbs. And we won’t say anything more about that.
