Oh, with one exception -- I had a few handfuls of blueberries this afternoon. So, uh, here's a picture of that:
After work tonight I actually did something that I've never done: made homemade MAYONNAISE! Mayo is allowed on the Whole30 challenge, BUT seed oils are not (including canola) -- which means you would need 100% olive oil mayonnaise -- which, it turns out, is totally hard to find.
So I just had to make my own. I used this recipe from the amazing blog The Clothes Make The Girl. (I also just ordered Melissa's cookbook, Well Fed. I'm so excited! I love Melissa (from afar) and desperately want to be like her when I grow up.
The mayo turned out pretty good, although the olive oil taste is more obviously more pronounced than what I'm used to. No photos of the mayo process though -- it was too late to get good light in the kitchen and surprisingly enough, off-white mayo in incandescent lighting makes for seriously unappetizing photos.
Instead, how about this nice photo from my ride home? Just a something I shot quickly with my iPhone, but I love how somehow it got a bit warped -- the power lines and the sign are all kind of wavy and weird. JUST LIKE ME.
Thanks for everyone's comments so far on my challenge. It's so nice to see some familiar faces -- Katie, Enz, Erin, Julie, Lynn ... I've missed keeping up with everyone! Here's to fresh starts and just keeping at it. Amiright???
