Whole30 - Day 30

HOLY COW! DAY 30!! Can you believe I made it this long?

Let's recap -- that's 30 days with:

  • no grains
  • no sugar
  • no dairy
  • no legumes or peanuts
  • no soy
  • no alcohol

Yeah, I'm pretty much a rock star. ;) Thank you all for following along and for supporting me along the way. I don't know if I would have stuck to it without knowing that people were out there to hold me accountable. And special thanks to Julie and Enz, who took the time to comment on almost every single post. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have these two lovely ladies in my corner.

So without further ado, I bring you: the final day's eats.

Breakfast was no big surprise: two scrambled eggs with chicken breast, avocado and salsa. I've really been enjoying this combo!

I didn't pack a lunch (again), so instead of going to Freshii (again) and spending $12 on a salad (again), I decided to check whether the grocery store had any premade salads I could actually eat. I got lucky! They had this "Muskoka Chicken" salad that had mixed lettuce, chicken breast, strawberries, blueberries, walnuts and pine nuts. It was great! I just ate it plain because all of the packets of dressing you could choose from had sugar in them (among other things.)

After work I came home and did my Couch-to-5K run. I FINALLY finished week one -- doesn't it seem like I started it AGES ago? This was actually my 5th or 6th run in the 'week 1' plan, since I insisted on trying out so many apps. But I'm finally ready to move on to week 2 now! Yay!

For dinner, I just ended up eating the same thing as last night -- canned tuna in olive oil, mixed with tomato, avocado and capers. I ate a few strawberries afterwards while I chatted on the phone with my mom.

I'll refrain from doing too much recapping tonight -- I actually have two more posts in the works to recap my Whole30 experience. I'll be back tomorrow with weigh in results as well the positives and negatives I experienced on the plan. Then after that I'll do a post with a more detailed run-down on what I ate what I had to tweak along the way, and what I'm planning to do from here.

After that you'll never have to see me type the words Whole30 again!! Okay, well, maybe not never -- but for awhile!

Thanks again for reading all these posts and can I get a HALLELUJIAH?!

  1. Hallelujah, sister, and A-men!

I enjoyed following along with your challenge. You're a great storyteller, even if the story is just lunch. :-)

I will admit to being a slightly bummed that this was not the super-duper wrap-up I was expecting from the post title. I'm looking forward to hearing what you thought about it all.

    1. Thank you! And yeah, go week 2! To be honest, I really liked doing two weeks worth of week 1. If I had more time before my 5k, I think I would stretch out the training plan and do two weeks of each.

  5. Congratulations, Andrea!!!

Although I'm sure this challenge has been really hard for you, you made it seem not effortless, because it wasn't, but achievable to people as long as they commit to it. I can't wait for you to recap the 30 days and I really hope you're still going to blog, I looked forward to reading your post every night. You should be very proud of yourself!!

    :)

    1. Aw, thanks Erin!! You know, I first found the Whole30 back in October, and I was like "Pfffft! This is ridiculous, too militant, I would never do that!" I think I was just scared to try. Now it feels awesome knowing I could do it. :)

And yes, I'll definitely still be blogging! Not so much with the food pics though, I mean, even I'm getting sick of looking at scrambled eggs! :)
