Remembering How To Do This

Just a quickie update for today, since I want to make it a habit to check in more frequently now that I've decided to go back to Weight Watchers.

It's been so long since I've done WW (or any form of calorie-watching, really) that it's been kind of hard trying remember what I used to eat. All I can remember of my old favourite meals are oatmeal with peanut butter and banana, and pita pizzas. Which will do for now, I suppose. :) Mmm, pita pizza.

I also thought it would be strange getting used to the new Points Plus program, but so far it's been okay. I think I've forgotten most of the OLD program by now -- all I can remember is that wine was 2pts and bananas were 2pts. Well, now wine is 3pts and bananas are free, so I guess I'm coming out ahead. :)

The whole process is a little overwhelming, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I'm LOVING it and having a blast pouring through my new materials and stalking the Skinny Taste archives. But I can see how, if you were completely new to WW, this period would be totally overwhelming. If you don't have a wave of enthusiasm to ride, I think it would be very easy to get discouraged in these first couple of weeks.

Luckily, having done this before, I know IT GETS EASIER. Soon I'll have dozens of low-point meal and snack ideas, and I'll have the right staples on hand, and I'll know just what to eat in a pinch or how to manage life on the go. For now, though, I kinda feel like I'm just feeling my way in the dark, hands out in front of me, with just enough blind faith to keep going.

  2. Hi Andrea, I didn't see the last few posts or I would have commented... I used to faithfully read your last blog also. While I did enjoy reading your paleo posts, I am really looking forward to your WW posts! You write beautifully!

I also struggle after a while on WW (I'm nearly 2 years into my second sustained WW effort) and I have been stuck at 35/40 pounds lost for absolutely months. I weigh it at home at the moment and just keep recommitting every Wednesday.

    Good luck on getting starting!

    1. Thanks Carlee! Glad to have you reading. :)

I guess one way you could look at it is that you're very good at maintaining -- definitely a skill in and of itself, but one I clearly never mastered! ;)

    1. I can't wait! Although to be honest, it's kind of fun to be a 'beginner' again. :)
